In our video series for preparing and recovering from upper body surgery, we would like to introduce you to this graceful movement from Medical Qigong called Octopus Swimming that focuses on the upper body, arms and chest. This movement will open the chest area up as it emphasizes self-massage through joint movements. This gentle and graceful movement will coax blood, oxygen and energy to the shoulders and upper body. Gentle movements with deep breathing and mindfulness prepare the area for surgery, enhance healing and promote recovery. This movement is a great start for individuals with arthritis and range of motion issues in the fingers, wrist, elbows and shoulder joints.
