In our video series for preparing and recovering from surgery in the upper body, we would like to teach you a more complicated but graceful movement from Medical Qigong called Push the Tablets that focuses on the upper body, arms and chest. In addition to opening up the chest, this movement also emphasizes trunk rotation, leading blood, oxygen and energy to the shoulders, and the upper body. When performed while deep breathing and in a state of mindfulness, these gentle movements will prepare the area for surgery, speed healing and enhance recovery. This movement is a great start for individuals who are dealing with range-of-motion issues in the lower back.
