In this video, Claire Willis (LICSW) explains the benefits of writing therapy for people dealing with cancer. She introduces writing exercises designed to unleash the therapeutic process through expressing feelings that were otherwise unable to be expressed. Studies and clinical trials are showing that writing about traumas and difficult experiences results in better outcomes for people dealing with chronic and serious illnesses. Both physical and mental health can be improved. Writing therapy can also be very helpful for caregivers or loved ones who are also dealing with the emotional trauma of cancer.
